0.24 Beta 4 is released.

GOTSent 0.24 Beta 4(mediafire)

Fixes longstanding error in MP4 muxing with odd file names (the dreaded 'where is my mp4 file???')

Removed erronous error messages when muxing to mp4 with Nero

AVI folder converision for PS3 (checks and recodes AVI for QPEL/QMC flag)

(some AVI files might still not play, select them as  a single AVI file for a quick audio recode. Some damaged/odd mp3 files, or DTS/OGG audio can cause this error)

AVCHD pessimistic fit to DVD when recoding to h264 (the old version would go over 4.3 GB)

2 pass h264 encoding option

Added 'shutdown after conversion' option  (shuts down the system after a single or a whole folder conversion)

Fixes in 0.24 beta 3:

High and low priority selection for all external processes

Add borders to h264 AVCHD recodes to make playback work correctly on PS3, and with working subtitles.

AVI recoding for PS3: Select AVI type in the file selector, and a non-working file will be checked for QMC/QPEL. If this is in the file, it will recode to a working PS3 AVI file. If no GMC/QPEL is found, it will assume a mp3 audio issue, and just recode the audio.

Fast Mux option: much quicker M2TS and AVCHD mux, using tsmuxer, with the main drawback that ffwd, reverse and goto do not work/take forever. Use at your own risk.

PS3/360 preference settings: When creating an avi, encode 1080p files to 720p for the 360 (due to performance issues). When creating an MP4, the fallback audio extraction will use 2.0 AAC audio for the 360 and PS3 2.0 profile, but create a 5.1 AAC MP4 for the PS3 5.1 profile. No other settings are effected by this selection (yet).

FIT TO DVD will make an AVCHD h264 recode fit on one DVD.

New version of mencoder is now supported for better encoding efficiency and less errors when recoding an MKV to XVID or MPEG2.

Faster splitting of M2TS and AVCHD files with tsmuxer instead of mkvmerge

Please note that in the current PS3 firmware (>2.40) AC3 5.1 is working correctly again in Xvid files. Besides that, the 2.40 firmware also brings upscaling and block and frame noise reduction to all video files on PS3.

Note for 360 users: If you are recoding, it is best for Xbox 360 users to recode to Xvid. It is not as fast in recoding as mpeg2, but it is better quality, and it is playable through every media server. Mpeg2 requires the 360 Media Center Extender to be playable.

If you recode to h264, the selected output format (mp4 m2ts or avchd) will be generated with a playable video file.

beta 11:

Hard subs in mpeg2 files are now supported. Make sure your subtitle files are in UTF8 format if you use special characters.

(open the subtitle file in notepad, select save as, and select 'UTF8' under the encoding option.)

If you are running VISTA, please 'run as administrator'. Since 0.23 beta 10, Vista64 and Windows Server 2008 should work as well.

News:

A German support site for GOTSent is available on Evo-X Many thanks :)

And I'd like to finish with a thank you for all people providing feedback, suggestions and help, in particular to Ditlew: Thanks man, you're a great help and motivation and your h264 checker rocks :)

Currently work is being done to stabilize the release, fix some filename bugs (very long/odd names cause issues), detect vc1 encoded files (at least notify users that it is not supported yet), and hard-subbing files.

troubleshooting & common errors

If things still don't work, just send a mail to sentry23@gmail.comand we'll figure out a way to get it running as it should., or use it to improve/fix/renovate the program. It's a lot faster then waiting in the forums for me to come by ;)

Audio Options

Make sure you have installed the AC3Filter, Haali Media splitter and, for PS3 users, that your firmware version is at least 1.82, and for Xbox 360 users the 2007 spring update.

You can download the filters from the following links:

AC3Filter

Haali Media Splitter

Nero is not required, but gives a boost to the audio quality, if you put the neroaacenc exe's in the same directory as GOTSent.

Donations

Thanks to all people who have donated so far.

Well, some things are always welcome, like for instance a Playstation Home Beta account, a membership of the Little Big Planet beta, PSN gameshares , an XBOX 360 for better compatibility testing, or a guided tour around the Guerrilla studios ;)

Paypal might be easier though:

Amount to donate: Euro

PS3 games and Blu-ray discs are also very much appreciated, but contact me for shipping details. (hey, it's worth a try ;) )

The reason I made this tool was for myself and the GOT Forum, to save a lot of time converting. So as long as I'm not 100% pleased with it, or there are still many feature requests/errors, I'll surely keep on upgrading the tool :)

About the name GOTSent:

The tool was made for our beloved Gathering of Tweakers and my nick has been Sentry23 for over many years now (the 23 has nothing to do with my age, but with the KLF, Aleister Crowley, the Illuminatus trilogy and many other things)

And it had a nice ring to it.

About the version names:

The 0.1 version were all named after Industrial dance/future pop/cyber industrial bands, while the 0.2 versions are named after industrial rock bands. (yes, there is more to killing joke then 'love like blood' :) try 'the death and resurrection show' for example).

Do check out some of the bands if you have any intrest in music. Most of them deserve a lot more recognition then they have had so far.
